Thai Style Baby Crib Mobile

Posted by Admin in Baby Crib Mobile, Baby Nursery Decoration, Baby Room Ideas on Nov 19th, 2009 | one response

Baby Nursery Decoration made even simpler through Thai style Baby Crib Mobile; The Carp Mobile.

Ever thought of making your own baby crib mobile?

Baby Nursery Decoration before Computers & Internet

Ever wondered what children used to do before the advent of
Xbox, Playstation or even television. How did you used to keep yourself busy as
a child before electronics and computers got in the way of sweet innocent play.

Have things changed so much these days that its too inconceivable
to imagine kids going out to play outside or heaven forbid do some exercise.

Lets not even talk about the internet.

Traditional Baby Crib Mobile Thai Style

A long traditional amongst Thai families in days gone by was
to walk outside into the garden and collect some palm leaves with which to make
a carp mobile, or “plat ta pien”.

This certainly isn’t a walk in the park for the origami
challenged but it does get easier when you master a few basic tricks. Once you
get the hang of it you can be popping them out every 5-10 minutes without much
effort. You’ll find that plaiting leaves together to makes these fish isn’t at
all as difficult as the task first seemed.

The task can be likened to knitting whilst watching the
television. Its almost mesmerizing by the intricate
simplicity.

Effects of using a Baby Crib Mobile

Not only is this a therapeutic exercise for young parents
the benefits really play part for the child. The swaying of these carp mobiles
works wonders as the back and forth movement in the wind slowly encourages
sleep. And which parent wouldn’t give their right arm for that?

These carp mobiles aren’t just for infants or playful
parents, older children use their imagination far more when it comes to the
carp creations. Traditionally they tie them to stick and pretend to walk them
home. A way of showing off their ‘catch of the day’.

Who says that entertainment these days needs to be
expensive. With some basic skills, dexterity and a good sense of ‘child at
heart’ you too can enjoy the luxury of creating simplistic creations in your
nursery without the need for expensive designer touches.

Baby Nursery Decoration doesn’t have to be expensive or
complicated. With some simple ideas like a Baby Crib Mobile your nursery can
come to life with a single palm leaf.

Pink nursery – the new blue for boys?

Posted by Admin in Baby Room Ideas on Oct 23rd, 2009 | one response

Pink is for girls and blue is for boys, right? Wrong. Long gone are the days when a pink nursery was only for princesses and fairy queens. These days pink is a hallmark color for modern, pop-art inspired nurseries made for little men. Think pink and navy pinstripes or plaid that add a sense of country sophistication fit for your precious prince.

Stick to these 5 rules when designing a pink nursery for your baby boy to create a room that is both unique and stunning:

1. Make it bold

Choose a pink that is bold, deep or rich. Colors such as Camelia and Sofft Reddy Pink from ColorLovers, really pack a punch and give instant impact when you walk into the room. Whilst pastel pinks are traditionally reminiscent of baby’s, should only be incorporated when they are teamed up with bolder, stronger colors in a boys nursery.

2. Mix it up

Mix pink with deep masculine colors such navy, grey or browns when creating your nursery color scheme. Then give strong colors such as these more impact by surrounding them with white. When pairing strong colors always give them room to breathe. Choose a feature wall to display your strongest colors and plaster it with wallpaper, splash on a rich coat of paint or choose a large wall decal to display them.

3. Pick strong motifs

Motifs are a great way to give your nursery a more boy’ish feel. Trucks, trains, dinosaurs, jungle animals, giraffe and zebra all look great in hot pink and really define the room as made for a male.   Alternatively you can paint your feature wall in pink and have your motif created in white, navy, khaki, grey or any other masculine color and apply it on top. Walltat have a huge selection of nursery wall stickers that can be custom made in a range of colors.

4. Think geometric patterns

Wallpaper is a fantastic way to dress up a nursery. Choose a geometric pattern when designing a pink nursery for a boy. Pin stripe, pink polka dot, plaid or any other design with a repeating square or angular pattern will ensure the nursery is fit for a little king. Avoid paisley, floral or overly embellished pink wallpapers as these will give a distinctly feminine feel to the room.

5. Accessorize it

If your not 100% sure if a pink nursery is the way to go for your baby boy then experiment by keeping your walls and major furniture pieces in neutral colors and adding pink tones through accessories such as your nursery crib bedding, crib mobile, toys, teddies and other items. Remember to stick to the rules above such as pairing pastel pinks with more masculine colors or opting for stronger bolder pinks. Stick to geometric prints when choosing fabric for curtains and bedding. By limiting pink to your accessories you can easily change the room as your baby boy grows older.

Baby Room Ideas – Noah’s Ark Nursery Theme

Posted by Admin in Baby Room Ideas on Oct 23rd, 2009 | 4 responses

Looking for gender neutral baby room ideas? All the parents-to-be that are waiting for their surprise bundle of joy to arrive can take comfort in the fact that this nursery theme is appealing to both girls and boys. Its also a fantastic way to introduce your child to a range of different animals.  What am I talking about? Im talking about Noah’s Ark. When I was looking around for baby room ideas I began by going through a list of my favorite stories that I was told as a child. Noah’s Ark is such a beautiful theme for your baby nursery. I learn’t about Noah’s Ark in school and I think it is a story that appeals to all regardless of its biblical origins. The story goes that Noah was foretold of a great flood and instructed to build an ark. Noah gathered two of every kind of animal of the world. When the rain began to fall he herded them all aboard his vessel and here they were safe from the storm outside. When the storm subsided Noah sent out a dove to search for land and it returned with an olive branch in its mouth. Noah then knew that he, his family and his cargo of animals were safe. There are some great visual elements that we can draw inspiration from in this story including:

  • Noah and his family
  • The Ark
  • Animals of any variety
  • Rain
  • Sunshine
  • A Rainbow
  • The Ocean
  • Dove

Here are some ways 3 great ways to create a great Noah’s Ark Nursery Theme:

1. Noahs Ark Baby Room Murals

If you’ve been looking for baby room mural ideas then this theme is ideally suited to a nursery mural. There is so much going on in this story that a mural would come alive with all the detail. “Murals Your Way” has this great Noah’s Ark Mural that can be custom made to the size of your wall.

2. Peel and Stick Decor – Noah’s Nursery Animals

I’m a big fan of wall decals for baby’s rooms. They are easy to install and easy to remove if you want to change the room down the track. Walltat have a great Tropical Birds and Lizards Decal as well as a Giraffe Decal that would make a great addition to Noah’s animal collection. Don’t foget to order them in pairs!

3. Painting your baby room – create your own rainbow

Why not use paint to create your own Noah’s ark Nursery. This works really well if you divide the wall in two using some form of border. Paint the lower half of the room in blue to signify the sea and the leave the top half white or cream. This is where our rainbow will go. Painting a rainbow freehand can get a little tricky. Here’s a trick I use to give me some guidance. Hammer a small nail into the wall at the point where you want the middle of the bottom of the rainbow to be. Get a piece of string that is half of the width you want your rainbow to be. Tie the string to the nail on one end and at the other end tie a piece of chalk. Then draw your rainbow with the chalk running from your border, up towards the ceiling and then to level of your border on the other side. Then shorten the string to create the next arc and keep going until you have enough arcs for the number of colors you want to paint.

Think about whether you would like to take a traditional, modern or playful approach and add in some of yor own style and personality. Remember there is always more than one way to execute your baby room ideas. And three different baby nursery’s all with a Noah’s Ark theme can look completely different.
